    2. Barry, I think the term "at home" on the census usually referred to underage children who either were still in school or too young for school. It could have also referred to the wife being a housewife. It was usually listed in the occupation column so basically it meant that that person did not have a paying job. I think the term "m.g." probably meant minister of the gospel in referring to the person officiating. Possibly, a magistrate, but I would think it more likely a minister of the gospel.
