    2. I'd order the 1900 Soundex for the surname in question. Because of his birthdate, he won't show up in the census, but you may be able to locate the family by finding out where people with that surname were living. (I recognize it's kind of a roundabout way to go.) Then I'd check in 1910 to see if they were still living there & locate the ancestor in 1910...hopefully with family. Have you got his birth & death certificates? Did either list parents' names? If so, you can pinpoint the family exactly in 1900, even though he won't appear with them, yet. Karen
