Since the SSDI does not have records of deaths prior to the 1960s, QUESTION: IF a person died in the 1950s and does NOT show up in the SSDI, is it possible that his SS# can be traced (if he indeed had one) and I can get his SS application information? Are these records available? I have gone to a couple of webpages and looked at several books, and I can't find an answer to this question or find anyone else who has done it. I know the procedure for writing for this information, and the cost for writing if you don't know the SS#. I just don't want to pay the price and later find out that the information was never available to me in the first place. Thanks for any help. Barb Thomas bthomas@wport.com
