Hi everyone, I have a problem with researching my great-grandfather Frederick Dressler in Pennsyvania. He was born in Union Co, PA. in 1832, and the Source Book and Genalogical Helper Book indicate that the vital records don't go that far back. I would probably have to find church records. I found records at the FHC that fit my Frederick Dressler, right date of birth, death and marriage givng the parents as George Fisher born 1802 in Union Co., PA. and Sarah Fischer b. in PA. I had also sent in my records that match that of the original submitter, whom I cannot locate now. However, Frederick Dressler's death certificate show his parents as John Dressler and Mary Crum. No name is given as to where the information came from. I see that I can send $25 to the Union Co. Historical Society to research one surname. Has anyone had eperience with this type of research. I have sent in $10 a number of times without luck for vital statistics. If they can find some information it would be worth the money, as I cannot travel there. I was wondering if anyone knows a reliable researcher in that area that would be able to verify Frederick's parentage for a reasonable amount. I understand you have to pay for the research whether anything is found or not, but would like to know if anyone has had luck with research from a historical society. I am retired and cannot afford to spend alot on research, but seem to be at a standstill now. Thanks, Jean Suman [email protected]
