Mary, These sound obvious, but you may wish to check when the country was formed. 2. Sometimes, if there was overload they went to a neighboring county. 3. Often for no other reason than it was just a pretty day the naturalized person may have gone somewhere else (often close by) to be processed. 4. In many states it was often the case that a country boundry may have chaged more than once. 5. It was and is also the case that many of the county's records never made it to a centralized source, which requires someone going to the country seat itself to search. This recently happened to me.
