    3. Hello to Marjorie and the list. The Family History Library publishes a German Genealogical Word List which will answer many questions for you (with illustrations.) Costs 50 cents (US) at a Family History Center. There are also Genealogical Word Lists for Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Italian, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. Also, there's a French Letter-Writing Guide and a German Letter-Writing Guide. All are written by experts, in simple terms intended to guide researchers who don't know the language. Each costs 50 cents. Family History Centers also have Research Outlines, for the British Isles, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Scandinavia, Asia/South Pacific, and the United States. Most of these are US$1; Outlines for individual Canadian provinces or US states are 50 cents. Size of the latter varies: Montana is 6 pages, New York state is 32 pages. Since there are 3200+ Family History Centers all over the world, I'd better say that some smaller FHCs may not stock all the Research Outlines etc., but they should be able to order them. Many of these Research Outlines are available on an inexpensive CD; are some of them online at <familysearch.org>? But I am making this post for the benefit of someone who would simply like to have a 50-cent or $1 printed outline to study at home and carry to the FHC.
