Hi ! Great place.  Wondering if anyone would be able to help me with my Sherman ancestors.My gggrandfather changed the spelling of the name after he arrived here.  All I know about the original spelling is it started SKJ-------. Oluf Sherman -- b.7 June 1842 in Valer, Soler, Norway.  My gggrandmother was Juliane Hasler -- b. 16 Dec 1832 in Eidanger, Bratsberg (Telemark), Norway. They emigrated to America in 1869 with 1 infant -- my gfather, Maurice Oscar L. I'm not sure where they boarded a ship or where the arrived over here.  I do know they first settled in Scandinavia, WI>then Waupaca, WI.> finally stopping in Eau Claire, WI. in 1874.
