I'm not sure who made the post regarding counties in New York, but an address "3222 Bronx Blvd., Bronx, New York" would be an address in the city of New York, in the county of Bronx (or as we would have said "in the Bronx"), in the state of New York. New York State and City are complicated when it comes to counties. "Upstate" as we called it, is the major portion of the state of New York and has numerous counties. The "city" of New York is divided into five counties - Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island and Manhattan (which New Yorkers refer to as "the city". To further complicate matters, "Long Island" (which I think is also part of New York City), consists of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. I grew up in Queens, which was also referred to by many as "Long Island" (for whatever reason)(??) Years ago I visited the New York Public Library, 42nd Street and 5th Ave., New York, New York (which, incidentally, means that it's in Manhattan, New York!) and they had many city directories. I don't think they will research these on request, but they may provide a list of researchers for hire. Another place to look for directories would be the LDS Family History Centers. I know they have some directories - but I'm not sure which ones.
