Hello all, I am new at composing inquiries so if I stumble, please be kind :) I am attempting to find the location (state and county) of the Veterans Home entitleld "Central Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers". My grandfather, George W. Lane, according to his pension records, was a resident of this facility at the time of his death on 14 January 1914. He was a former member of the Music Company, 23rd Regiment, Indiana Infantry. In 1908 he was residing in Jeffersonville (Clark Co) IN. I would very much like to learn the physical location of this facility in order that I might obtain a copy of his death certificate. Material found on the web indicated that after the civil war, many State veterans homes were established. I feel certain he was not the only resident but no one - not even the Adjutant General of the State of IN - had ever heard of it and my letter to them had been forwarded to several other offices, including the American Legion, all with negative results. My last resort would be to write to National Headquarters of the Veterans' Administration but thought I would give you good folks a try first. Any and all hints, suggestions or information would be most appreciated.
