Hey Rusty, Keep looking! I just linked two lines together that I have been trying to link for at least over 6 years and I know one of my husbands cousins that had been trying to link them together for many more than I! In doing so found out that some neighbors a few doors down the street are my husbands 2 cousins! They would never have known this had a "total stranger" not seen my name somewhere on the internet and sent me an email questioning whether our lines were somehow connected! Turns out her husband is another of my husbands second cousins! You cant ever give up on any way of possibly finding info! Sooner or later it does work and you do find someone that has info that ties it all together! Good Luck!
