I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Joseph BATES, b. Tn.abt 1829 , came to Tx. and married my great grandmother 1-24-1856. He joined the Confederacy in 1863, He was sick most of the time. He was left in Ark. in a private home because he was too ill to travel with the troops. I have been unable to find his family in Tn. I found two young men named Joseph that are in his age range. One is living with his mother, Mary, in Bradley Co. Tn. in 1850. He is 24 years old. The other one is in Greene Co., Tn. in 1850, but he is married to Margaret. I am up against the brick wall. I would appreciate any help you might give me. Still searching Wanda Bates Smith
