If anyone has access to Family Archives #358, Passenger Immigration, New Orleans, 1820-1850, and/or #316, 1840 Selected Counties Census Index, please contact me privately. Thank you, Arlene CIBurton@Worldnet.att.net
Hi, For blank census forms. Go to <http://www.FamilyTreeMaker.com/mainmenu.html> Scroll down to Letter and other aids and click that. Next Scroll down to Abstracts for census records, and click it. Lastly, scroll down to the census form that you need and print them. I hope this helps. Vern
I don't know if this information has been already sent to this list. However, there is a Valley Forge Muster Roll on the Internet. You enter the surname and it brings up all of that surname who served there and in which state they signed up. Here is the site: http://www.nps.gov/vafo/home.htm Click on "Muster Rolls" Jean Suman
Brad, You can sign me up as interested. BUT you had better get busy on the documentation cause I'm a newby not only to genealogy but computers as well so I need lots of SIMPLE instructions. LOL
I would be interested in this information also! Can it be posted to the list? Thanks, another Arlene AHamptonResearch@aol.com

Sorry I should have given you the location in my first response....Clooz is located at http://www.ancestordetective.com/ ... it really is a nice program...it just didn't do it exactly like I wanted so I wrote my own (plus I'm sort of a computer geek and enjoyed it)...I'm hoping to have a test copy of mine ready right after the first of the year (although) there won't be a lot of documentation right at the beginning...I'll only do up documentation if people are interested in using it. There is a program that is call Clooz which does it very well...I'm also in the process of writing one that I 'm planning on giving out as either low cost ($10.00...to attempt to cover my costs of purchasing the development software) shareware or freeware...mine will do a bit more than Census (as does Clooz as well)... Well, I haven't found a census program, but this is how I kept track: I used a spreadsheet program (use excel or microsoft works). I took the surname that I was working on and went to the oldest person on the list and started with him. In the first column, I listed every individual in his line that I was interested in (In-laws included). In the following columns, I labeled the top of the column with the year of the Census (1810, 1820, 1830 etc...) You will need to print this out in LANDSCAPE form as it is too wide for portrait printing and you will need to adjust the size of your columns. If anyone wants to see an actual page, I'd be happy to download one to them. Then, in each column under there, I put the STATE initials that I expected to find them in next to the person's name....It would look something like this: (Forgive the different servers that don't line up the columns right) Name 1810 1820 1830 1840 1850 1860 1870 1880 1900 Smith, John X MS MS LA LA TX X X X I put the X showing that he would not be in the 1810 census because he was born in 1805. Then I put the X in the 1870, 1880, 1900 etc census because he died in 1863. I make the spreadsheet print out the gridlines so they columns are separated. When I find the census he was in, I bring a yellow highlighter with me and color in the square. That way I can easily see which ones I have found. Hope that helps some.....It takes a little while to type the thing up, but believe me, it has saved me many a time at the files trying to remember who I needed to get. I also put a Comments column, so that when I didn't find them in the state that I thought they would be in, I let myself know that they may have been on the "move" or in another state. Lisa
Here are someone's research files out on eBay. Hopefully someone else is researching these names. You input into templates of all the Federal Censuses 1790-1920; also provides input forms for a number of other documents plus correspondence, photos, sources, etc. I'm not associated with this product at all except that I purchased it and use it. My only word of caution is that the more names you have in your files before starting Clooz, the more complicated it is to load your names. (You can always add them manually however. You can check it out at www.ancestordetective.com. Good Hunting, Becky
