    3. Does anyone on these lists know if the Dallas Public Library have maps for Brooklyn and Queens, New York, for the years, around, 1920. Or does anyone have access to the Brooklyn and Queens maps for that year. I am willing to pay for the cost of copying and mailing the copies to me. Thank you all for all the help you have given me. I may not have said Thanks when it was due but I am now. I lurk a lot just reading the messages and sometimes I get suggestions on how to find something. You are all great people. I'm glad that I join these lists. If anyone lives in or close to Dallas, please let me hear from you. I am going to venture to the Dallas Public Library sometime next week. I've never been there so I don't know what to look for. Be good to have a friend here who can show me around the Genealogy Room there. Thanks, again, and have a great day. :) -- Joanne Moore Researching: Eickert/Eickest, Franz, Gienau, Kestner, Kusher, Rieve, Waltens, and Urban, all from Brooklyn and Queens, New York Eickert/Eickest, Rieve, Gienau and Kusher, are also from Germany

    2. Charles C Counceller
    3. To anyone interested, I use Family Tree Maker, probably have 40 of their CD's. These are just great ! If you have the Family Finder Index, you can see if any of your connections are on the various CD's. If you buy one and don't find your relatives, you can return it for full refund. Can't beat it as far as I am concerned ! 1. FTM CDs
    2. I have 4 of the marriage CDs. I bought them before they had a bundle. There are for selected counties and selected years. Do not expect to get every marriage in Indiana from early to 1850 on CD #228. I also have World Family Tree Vol 1 - 12. They are good if you luck out and fine someone who is researching your family tree or part of it. I have some information on a couple who may possibly be my gggrandparents. Enough to do more research to see if they fit. I also have two of the census Index CD's. 1607-1789 and 1860. These only show the head of household and where to find the info on the original census--county, state and page number. A census index is just that an index. If you are looking for a John Carter and don't know where he was for that census you will not be able to identify him. I understand there are CDs available that are actually transcriptions of the actual census pages. I have not actually seen one. The FTM CD's are easy to use with the Family Tree Maker software. Since I have some of the older CDs and also have the GRS DOS program I prefer to use that to access information from those older CDs. I don't think you can use GRS on the World Family Tree CDs. I hope I have answered some of the questions you wanted answered. Toni Gorman rockall@aol.com

    1. POWELL CO. KY.
    2. Hi to all, I wanted to pass on a little information about Powell Co. Ky., and why , at times I will write born in, POWELL CO. KY., or surrounding counties. Powell Co. Kentucky, was formed in 1852 from CLARK, ESTILL, and MONTGOMERY Counties. STANTON, the seat of POWELL COUNTY, was first known as BEAVER POND. The BEAVER POND post office was opened in 1849 and was renamed STANTON in 1852. The courthouse and records burned in the spring of 1863. The jail and other records were burned again in 1864, destroying most records. Here is a list of POWELL COUNTY'S neighbors and counties that USED POWELL CO. in their formation. CLARK CO., KY ESTILL CO., KY LEE CO., KY MEMIFEE CO., KY MONTGOMERY CO., KY WOLFE CO., KY Smile, Judith

    1. re Mac PAF 2.3
    2. Hi, I haven't needed to use diacriticical marks but the book says you can use them. It just doesn't say how. Perhaps you need to go to preferences and temporarily change your font to one that will give you the umlaut or whatever you need and then try KeyCaps. This sounds like a good question for the PAF users list which just started. <Here's the subscribing info.: <I have two new mailing list for PAF users. 2. Marcia, My heart aches for you! I wish I knew an answer, but alas, I don't! Is there any such thing as internet police? Maybe a real stupid question, but you shouldn't feel threatened. I thought I had it bad with a relative who harasses me (and anyone she learns gives me information about the family tree!) It's sad that there are such disturbed people in the world! I hope you're able to get it solved soon! Good luck! Sincerely, Donna

    3. I too loved the poem, and it came at a time when I am trying to figure out what to do here. This is genealogy related thus: I searched for BUSSELL on an e-mail address search. I sent out 18 letters , all to different address. I was careful NOT to send the letter of introduction to to address' that looked similar, as I know some people have several different e-mails! but these were all posted on the e-mail page! Most of the letters came back as user unknown, as they no longer had the same provider ect. HOWEVER>! One person wrote back , SCREAMING, and I will paste here, At 12:00 PM -0700 6/6/98, marcia Collins wrote: >Hello, I am researching my family BUSSELL. Don't EVER try this type of spamming again! It is rude, rude, RUDE to take up people's time with unsolicited junk like this. I wrote back 1 time, apologizing, and defending the fact that I had NO SPAMMED! I explained what I was doing, and where I had gotten the Address . I CANNOT paste the remaing 13!!!! letters that are flying into my mail box...They are full of the f -word, and if you can believe it worse! I went to the inbox assistant and blocked that address....guess what, She is now using hot mail, yahoo, you name it, she sends it on different mail address's I do not KNOW until I open it that they are from this INSANE person from Hawaii. I wrote back ONE additional time, demanding she stop the language ect. as I have children who use this e-mail. I told her I would contact her ISP and make a complaint.....it just continues! WHAT can I do? This is so bizarre. I feel like I am being stalked, or harassed by phone. SO I shot a query into cyberspace it came back and slapped my face I never meant to harm a sole I wish she'd fall in a big black hole! HELP!!!
