Hi, I'm new to this list and have a question. I have located ancestors on an Ancestral File (LDS) and some of the dates are different from my research. Also a couple of the surnames are spelled differently. I need to find out their verification for their research. I know that the Ancestral File Numbers are the link. Exactly how would I find out who submitted the file and where their information came from? I have great grandparents who became Jehovah's Witnesses in the 1930's. Does anyone know if that religious group keeps any records like other do? Or is there a site that would help with some information? Thanks, Linda
I asked this before, and if I did get an answer, I did not see it, so I apologize: my question why is this attached to my letters through GENTIPS ? Family Workings: http://www.familyworkings.com It looks as if familyworkings is the list owner...is that true? i have a different address for the list, but if I am incorrect, please tell me, otherwise, I would really like to know why this shows on MY letters, when I do not see it on ALL letters. Thank you Thank you Marcia Moore Collins http://www.angelfire.com/ks/windshipgenhelp/

Hello All, again, a huge thank you to all that helped me with the WFT number! I now had SO much more than I had. A few weeks ago I asked about 'Shared Web Sites" as I have gathered some really good stuff (albeit NOT MY FAMILY!)...I had a really sweet offer, and she is helping with things I had no Idea about doing! She has started a site Called GHN Genealogy Help Network, and It will be a tremendous resource I am sure when it is complete. The address is http://www.angelfire.com/ks/windshipgenhelp/ For a short time, she is offering all the chance at a FREE page + plus the help in the design and linking ect!! Think about it, a place for all the info we have gathered, and want to share with others! Such a sweet lady...I know I told you about it , but it was new, and some had problems acessing it...that is fixed now, I go to the chat room all the time from there, PLEASE , go and look..make sure to sign the guestbook, as this site has a counter, It has something to do with a site must has so many visits in order to be able to offer US the FREE page, and design help SEE you there, okay? Thank you Marcia Moore Collins http://www.angelfire.com/ks/windshipgenhelp/
Hi everyone, I know that this has probably been discussed here before but missed it, sorry to those who have to go through this thread again, but..... My husband just found a box of pictures in the attic which we got from his father's wife, his second, anyways, they have been thrown into this paper bag and the photos are curled on the corners etc.etc. and are in pretty tough shape. Is there a way that I can straighten them out and then preserve them. I know that I need acid free holders but what else? Hope you can help. Thanks ahead, Sandy

Just click on the first section, "Brickwall Helpful Hints" and you'll see a few photo sites. They for a specific "person". Not necessarily for the name. Keep that in mind. len in pa

One of the names included was Virkus. A cousin told me she was planning to purchase a fairly expensive book by Virkus and I warned her about what I had read. Unfortunately I can't find the article to back up my warning? Anyone know where I can find it again? And this time I will bookmark it! I didn't see the notice that you are referring to but as a Familly History major, we have been warned in more than one class to be careful using Virkus and Savage. Some of the information in these books ia accurate but much of it is not. Both of them can provide a place to begin searching but it is best to not accept them as the end of the search. Many libraries carry one or both of these books and copying the pages that applies to the family you are searching might be a better choice. Sharon

Judy asked about a site that talks about "bad genealogies". I think this site, "Locating Published Genealogies" by Donna Przecha, gives the information she was looking for: http://www.familytreemaker.com/15_genes.html. Rochelle
