Hello I am searching for my great grandfather John Henry (Maxwell)Maxwhol who was born in Telsa Prussia in approximately 1880. Prussia I believe was an independent country or State owned by Germany at that time. What I am looking for his his birth records does anyone know a search engine or how to get in contact with the Berlin Archives? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Gentlemen: I have read the information on obtaining Marriage Licenses in Cook County, Illinois. My question is: If you do not have the date of marriage and the span could be 10 - 12 years, how do you go about getting the information you need? Am thanking you in advance for any information that I could use. My name is: Michele Moberley P.O. Box 14 Parrottsville, TN 37843 or e-mail me at: [email protected]
I have been researching my family history for about a year now and my problem is my father has a different last name then his family . I have been told he was put in an orphanage with his brothers as a child and that he had been named after an Uncle but none of what I am being told makes any sence to me . I was wondering if anyone out ther has ever heard of the name Jetters and if they have could they possibly give me any information that they are willing to spare . Or if anyone could help me figure out how it is that a child (the first child) in a family of 4 children has a different name then the rest. Thank you , Tina Sabo

I have called them at 312-603-6700. They will do a search for 3 years for $7.00 and each additional year is $1.00. I have requested a search for 1930-1940 which cost me $14.00. The address to send to is Cook County Vital Records, P.O. Box 642570, Chicago, IL 60664-2570. I think they will also do birth/death searches for the same fee. Good Luck !! Patty (Lemont, IL)
I am trying to find the origin of the surname Chandler in the valley of VA. Could it be French? Thanks, Celia
Dear Jean, Put your money with the historical society, I did and did not regret it at all, and I even got more information than I had hoped for. Diane

<< How do I go about finding out my great grandfathers real name? and how do I find out if my grand father and great grand father were registared indians? >> Jennifer: First place to start, if you don't already have it, is to get the death certificate and obituaries. They are usually full of lots of new information that you may not be aware of. That's where I always start. Good Luck

Hi Ida, In November of 1996 I was in Meath Co., Ireland visiting a composer friend, Colin Mawby, and his family. I have not gone there to do family research, but I want to strongly suggest that everyone who does go there be sure to visit Newgrange in Co. Meath! It's Ireland's Stonehenge--but entirely intact! Not only that but it's 1,000 years older than Stonehenge, and seems to prove that it wasn't Druids who built Stonehenge after all because Druids didn't exist at that earlier time. There are other structures like this elsewhere in the world too, such as on France's northwestern coast, I believe is where that one is. Anyway, have a wonderful time! Ireland's the one place in Europe I'd go back to in a heart beat. --Carol ----- Original Message ----- From: by way of Tracey Converse <[email protected]> <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 1999 1:18 AM Subject: Dublin, Ireland > Does anyone have the address for the genealogy building in Dublin Ireland. Hi everyone, This is the first time I am writing to you all.. I am new to this geneology bit and am in need of some help. I am having a hard time locating the name of my grandfather.. I know this much about my family: My fathers name is David Gene Irwin born in montgomery LA 3 nov 1954 My grandfathers name is Edwin Boothy Irwin born 21 nov 1915 and died 2 dec 1977. My grandfather is 1/2 choctaw indian and white. My great grandfather is full choctaw is all I know.. His name may possibly be Bill ? Irwin.. I know he died in Alexandria or Colfax LA in a riot.. How do I go about finding out my great grandfathers real name? and how do I find out if my grand father and great grand father were registared indians? PS: I know they came origonally from Mississippi. any help would be great.. xoxo Jennifer Samantha Irwin
Mary, These sound obvious, but you may wish to check when the country was formed. 2. Sometimes, if there was overload they went to a neighboring county. 3. Often for no other reason than it was just a pretty day the naturalized person may have gone somewhere else (often close by) to be processed. 4. In many states it was often the case that a country boundry may have chaged more than once. 5. It was and is also the case that many of the county's records never made it to a centralized source, which requires someone going to the country seat itself to search. This recently happened to me. Hope this helps.

I've run out of ideas on how to find the date date for my ggrandfather, Wiley Paul. He lived in Tippah Co., MS & is said to have died abt 1870. There are no records on line, at that website, in the death index, and nothing that the historical society or anyone else can find. Any suggestions? Linda [email protected]
You wrote: Would you be able to provide me with a list of Minsons who fought for Virginia CSA Army? I know Richard Minson {of VA} did Thank you. Leo [email protected] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is what I was able to find of Minson at Ancestry.com. John C Minson Virginia enlisted: 22 April 1861 age at enlistment: 21 place: Camp Hill, VA Confederate army G Co. 15th Infantry Reg. VA I have access to Broadfoot's index of Confederate Soldiers if you would like me to do a lookup from that. It doesn't seem as though Ancestry's database is thorough. I should be going to the library tomorrow morning (7/15) if you want that lookup. for your suggestions. I will try the county and the local library. The local newspaper and the state and the University of Arkansas does not have this person's obit for the year she died either. Thank you for your responses. Judy
