    3. Linda, I'm not sure that you would call this turning over a grave. But, I have a problem locating my Grandfathers' grave.. He is buried in a cemetery believed to have been displaced by a local lake. My problem is that none of the family was ever contacted about the removal of grave for relocation. On his death certificate is listed the cemetery in question, but, NONE of the family has been able to find his grave in the "relocated" cemetery. This is still very disturbing to us. I'm sorry I'm rambling and not much help...But wanted you to know I'm on a similar quest. There are only 3 of my mother's siblings left and we would like to find him. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks for the ear. I am trying to help an older woman in the neighborhood (81 yrs) who can not find her parents graves. Even though she had visited the graves many times before. After a 7 year lapse, she went to the cemetary to find no headstones or markers. The cemetary said that no one was buried in that location, and even checked with a long metal probe. The office has no record of her parents being buried there. We have received copies of death certificates, showing the name of the cemetary. And on her fathers burial card it shows the section and lot number. But still the cemetary says no. Her parents died in 1917 and 1921. Has anyone heard of turning over graves. Ands does anyone have any suggestions? Time is running out for her, and I would love to help her out. 3. LINDA, would you please say in which state this situation has happened. And second, there must be some department of state government that has authority over moving of a buried body or casket without first attempting to locate a relative to give permission. I recall reading on one of the lists about cemeteries contacting descendants of buried persons re a necessary removal. The government of that state doubtless has a general information 800 number and you could call to ask which department would be in charge. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, call the state's secretary of state and ask the same question. Also, you can go the courthouse for that county, ask the court clerk where is the register of deaths or permanent record of deaths for that county. There should be a formal record for each deceased person, including the date and place of burial, address of undertaker. If the undertaker is no longer in business, other undertakers or your local library may have received his boxes of records. Please keep us posted of your progress. This is a good example of why we should have a map of the cemetery where our loved one was buried, with the plot marked ... and give copies to other relatives. VIRGINIA

    2. Can anyone tell me that if my gggg-grandmother ONSTINE applied for WI land thru the B of LM, would that mean that it could possibly be for free land as a Civil War Widow? I have always thought my gggg-grandfather was killed in the CW, but the signature date is 1859--which makes that impossible. Does anyone know if that is the purpose of land issued by the B of LM? This was for only 40 acres too. [email protected]

    1. Term graves
    2. ETM
    3. Term graves were common in Chicago in that time period, the tradition coming from Europe where term graves may still exist. I understand most cemetery offices do, in fact, maintain records of the previous burials. Perhaps a call indicating that you want to know if term graves might be involved, and asking for more information about the previous burials at the site might elicit more information. In lieu of printing my bookmarks (Netscape) I simpy copy both the bookmark and e-mail address book files to a separate location on the hard drive and also to a backup diskette. It's simple and saves me a lot of paper and ink. Netscape file names are: abook.nab bookmark.htm Regards, Bob French ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. 3. Hi Have you considered copying to wordpad and then printing from there? I don't know what the matter is with your email that it won't print but either wordpad or a word processing program should print your emails. Hope this helps. 1. Passenger List Website
    2. I just heard from the listowner at the Cimorelli Website I posted the other day. They are changing servers and are down for a few days. Here is a copy of his post to another mailing list. So, don't loose the bookmark, it is a very comprehensive site! I don't think I made it clear in my first post, but there are not passenger LISTS at this site. It's a listing of the SHIPS and the dates they arrived in the US and from which ports overseas, plus loads of other information. Patty >>>>>>From the listowner of the CIMO site: "This weekend I'm swapping servers so expect many delays/periods of nonavailability. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, redid the ODBC drivers and many of the past reports will display one page and get an error. I know this is happening, so don't send a gazillion email messages. You will be redirected to http://www.cimorelli.com/safe/shipmenu.htm vice /vbclient/shipmenu.htm - these are the fixed programs." I did connect after I received above message, but have not been able to do so today. Be patient.>>>>>
