To the group: On 9/3 I sent a request to the list for a lookup on cds 318 and 319. My mom needed the lookup and is not very computer literate, so I offered to help her. As a computer network administrator, that can be very frustrating!!! But she is learning! I wanted to thank everyone for the helpful responses. I forwarded the responses to her and let her try to work with the volunteers herself. It is nice to know that there are so many people willing to help others. In a very short period of time she received the info that she was looking for. On a sour note.... I was absolutely appalled at one of the emails she received from a list member. I am posting it here below, but will not post who it was from. I do not believe that the attitude was deserved or befitting of anyone on this list. I cannot say how disappointed I was to have my mom call me in tears because of this. >>I am still waiting for the SASE envelop. Since I have not heard from you, I am >>deleting your message. It offends me a little that you expect me to take the time >>to type all that but can't send a SASE for the information. If it isn't worth 64 cents >>to you, how dare you ask me to spend an hour doing work for you for free. Mom didn't ask anyone to work for her for free. I am having a hard time understanding why a CD lookup needed to be handtyped???? We as genealogists need to remember that there are people online who are not up to the technology like some of us are, there are people who don't understand "nettiquette" yet. Some people don't respond as quickly as we would like. People also have lives other than answering our emails in the time we expect them to. But they sure don't deserve correspondence like this. Obviously the volunteer in this case did not know that she was writing to a woman in her late 50s, whose health is failing terribly, whose father was just put in a rest home and whose mother is falling apart about it. She didn't need that email under any circumstances. It was totally uncalled for. I'm sorry if anyone thinks this should have been a private correspondence, but I felt that it was lousy enough that the group might want to know that it happened. Thank you, everyone, for all your time and efforts! They are appreciated! I went yard saling last week, and found a wonderful book called "The Boucher Family". I contains name: Bowsher, Bauscher, Bausher, Bousher. Also, were names of branches of Strawn, Harpster, Tedrow, Cryder, Reichelderfer, Critchfield, Stahl, Straw, Brant, just to mention a few. The book was compiled by Fraklin A. Burkhardt of Lima, Ohio in 1917. In the book are many names connecting to these and other descendants. I would be happy to go through the index and find info for anyone who wishes me to. I have a scanner (Mutek) I am told that I can scan a picture and send it through the internet to anyone on line. If someone will tell me in laymen's terms how to do this, I can also send the pictures and the compiled descendant lines in the book, of which there are many. Each paragrahp starts with historical information, then into the descendancy line of that particular person. Please send message to my email address, and I will try to help. macbob@pacwest.net Midge Corcoran in Oregon

Hi, Does anyone have these cds that would do a lookup for me? They are the census indexes for 1860 & 1870 selected states. Thanks, Cheryl Hawley
I have added more names to the list of people on the 1853 Death Index for Norfolk County, VA on my homepage. I have also printed the microfilm copy of the entire list, which I have here at home; so if you think you know someone - you can e-mail me and I can check to see if there is more info on it for you. Unfortunately, there are lots of holes in the info. and there is very little additional info about the slaves. Too bad. Stop by and check it out. http://members.aol.com/jdool90830/jano.htm Please sign my guest book too. I would like to hear from you. Hi: just re read my below message and I guess I can't think and type at the same time. I meant to say I can trade some cajun research for research of New Orleans data. Most of the data I need is found at the Vital Records archives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Birth, marriage and death certificates. I will re imburse you for the cost of the certificates. I think others may have access to New Orleans Newspapers on microfilm and thats where the obituaries will be found that I need. I will pay for the amount of copying these obituraries also. Now maybe his message is clearer. Sincerely, Lynn Fri, 4 Sep 1998 GenSwap-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: [NON-Text Body part not included]
I'm in New Orleans. The main Library has their obit index in a card file. Who are you looking for? Chanell

Hi: this is my first post to this list. I am hoping to find someone who can research New Orleans Vital records and obituaries. I can do some limited research in cajung genealogy in exchange but I am sure we can work something out. I am stuck on all my genealogy mainly because I can't get out to do my genealgoy. (most of the info I need is at the State Archives in Baton Rouge Louisiana) but I'm sure others have access to the obituaries. I am also stuck because I don't get out as much as I would like to due to several illnesses. Sincerely, Lynn
I live in Montana and have access to numerous records here. I also have lot of info on VA, I would like to swap with someone in Grayson Co., VA or Carroll Co.VA, or AlleghenyCo. PA, or Ohio Co. WVA. Mayhaps we can work something out. JoAnn pln3745@montana.com
Hi: I will trade research in Canadian records for help in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Anyone out there live near Oshkosh or a major library/archives in Wisconsin that has material from that area. I live near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and have access to a large number, but not all by any means, of records for Canada, both print and microfilm. For example: all of Canadian Census 1840's to 1901; large collection of local histories, especially British Columbia and prairie provinces, some Ontario and Maritimes; some newspapers for various parts of Canada; passenger lists, etc, etc. If anyone is in a position to help let me know what you have access to and what specific records you are looking for and I'll let you know whether I can help. Thanks Don Nisbet, Surrey, B.C., Canada Email: dnisbet@vcn.bc.ca
I am trying to plan a Schwiesow reunion to be held in Olympia, Washington. Anyone interested in the Schwiesow family is welcome to attend. The two dates that I have picked are July 4, 1999, or August 7, 1999. Please let me know which date is best for you, the one with the most votes wins. Lorie Schwiesow-Wharton

Hi Rooters, I am looking for someone that will do a look-up in Minneapolis, Minnesota for me. Agnes Grace Weiss (b) 02-09-1897 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin died 05-07-1993 at age 96. Would be interested in the information in her obituary. I know she was married to Francis Weiss(b) 07-15-1896, where I don't know, died 09-03-1970, also in Minn. I sent a request for information to her daughter: Jeanette, married to Otto Link, but was informed through the grape-vine, her husband is against family trees. Guess they are out there!! Maybe I can get the information from a grandchild. Please e-mail me direct. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Beverly J. Oakley B1316@aol.com Sheboygan, Wi
Thanks, Nancy, I have been to this site, and even subscribed to the list, but this is for more current obituaries. I am looking for obituaries from the early 1900's. I appreciate the tip!!!
