    3. Hi Can anyone do a look up for Winnipeg Can? I had a grandfather that was a draft dodger and went to Winnipeg to avoid being drafted. As I understand it my Uncle Lynn Waldie Walker or Graham was born there and my Aunt Marjorie was born there too. They were born 1916 @ 1917. I understand he went under the name of Walker when in fact his name was William Tweedie Graham. He married my maternal grandmother Mildred Leona Kaska. Thanks for anything u can find. How would I find birth cert's there. 3. I looked in the Yahoo! Yellow Pages and found several listings for "J Hook" for California. Some with other middle initials. One with middle initial E. I understand that the information that Yahoo! has is the same as the local phone books. Perhaps more current in some cases. 1. New to list
    2. Rick Beauchesne
    3. Hi everyone, First, I apologize for any cross postings and the length of this. I am new to the list and wanted to introduce myself. I live outside of Denver, CO but I was born and raised in Greenfield, MA. I am relatively new to genealogy, though I have tried off & on over the years. I am research the following surnames, BEAUCHESNE, BOURBEAU, TROTTIER, POIRIER, HEBERT, THERIAULT, to name a few. I recently went on a short research trip to Québec and had some great luck in learning that four generations back my surname was BOURBEAU. With this information it was relatively easy to trace my early ancestors in Québec. It's the later one's who immigrated to the U.S. that I am having trouble finding. Any help/information or if someone would be willing to do some lookups on the following would be greatly appreciated: I am trying to find any information on my Grandmother, Lucy TROTTIER, born 26 Oct. 1874 in Newport, VT. If anyone would be willing to do a lookup at the town clerk's office of her birth certificate it would be greatly appreciated. I need my great, great grandparents names to continue my search. I suspect that the Trottiers came from the Mauricie Bois-Frances region in Québec, Canada, possibly Gentilly, Que. My grandfather, Antonio BEAUCHESNE was born on 12 May 1876 at St. Eusebe-de-Stanfold, Princeville, Que. I have not been able to locate either family in the 1890 or 1900 U.S. census. My grandfather emigrated from Lyster, Qué. to Newport, VT, U.S. via the Canadian Pacific RR on 3 Oct 1892 so I can only guess that he knew the TROTTIER family. They were married in Tilton, NH on 27 Jan 1896. My great, great grandfather was Moise BEAUCHESNE born 24 Apr 1835, Gentilly, Que. married 14 Feb 1860 Gentilly, Que. to Marie-Louise Lacerte born 9 Oct 1836. Earlier BEAUCHESNE generations from Qué. had the family name BOURBEAU. Here is what little I know about my mother's family side. My grandfather Joseph Marcel POIRIER was born in Cocagne Cape(possibly Grand Digue), N.B., Canada on 27 Sept. 1881. He immigrated to Fitchburg, MA, U.S. 1 Nov. 1895 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen on 10 Sept. 1906 in New Bedford, MA (I have a copy of his naturalization papers). He was married to Flora POIRIER POIRIER (supposedly not related) who was born in Iles-De-La-Madeleine, Quebec in May 1880(1). They were married in New Bedford, MA on 2 Sept. 1912. She died on 19 Feb. 1919 at Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cajatain POIRIER and Arthemise HEBERT (J.M. POIRIER parents) were my great grandparents. I do not have any dates at all, but I'm guessing that my great grandparents were born around 1840-1860. They were both born in Cogagne Cove, N.B., Canada. Also, 1) Cajatain POIRIER, born (probably around early 1800's) in Cogagne Cove or Grande Digue? N.B., Canada. He is my great, great grandfather. According to family legend he was a red-haired giant (6'8") and was a weight lifting champion in Canada. He died at age 34 yrs. by "straining his gut". 2) Marcel POIRIER, also born in Grande Digue, N.B., date unknown (probably late 1700's). He is my 3rd great grandfather. Again according to family legend he was a great landowner. He was married to Seraphie or [Séraphine] Bourgeois who was born in? Nova Scotia 3) Simion or Simeon POIRIER, may have came from Normandie, France. He eventually settled in Grande Digue, N.B from Louisiana. He would have been my 4th great grandfather. Born probably in the 1700's. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. If I can repay the favor in any way let me know. I live outside of Denver and the Denver Public Library has great records for anyone doing research in this region. There is also a regional National Archives center here so I might be able to help anyone doing research in the western U.S. If anyone is planning a research trip to Québec and particularly to the Mauricie Bois-Frances region I might be able to offer some advice from my experience on resources in the area. I also own the following books and would be willing to do lookups for anyone. Répertoire des marriages de la paroisse, GENTILLY, Comté de Nicolet, 1748-1987. (List of marriages for the parish of Gentilly (St. Edouard), County of Nicolet, Québec, Canada) Répertoire des sépultures de la paroisse, GENTILLY, Comté de Nicolet, 1748-1987. 2. Russel Madere, Jr.
    3. Greetings all! I'm new to this list and want to introduce myself. I live in Metairie, LA, just west of New Orleans, LA. I am researching the following surnames: MADERE, DUHE, GILLIAM, BLACKMON, TROUTMAN, COX, MAHNE and WILTZ. All of these are ancestors or my wife's family. I am also researching War Between the States era Confederate units; particularly the 27th Regiment Mississippi Infantry and the Battalion Washington Artillery. In the course of this research, I was able to gain access to _The Roster of Confederate Soldiers, 1861 -1865_. I am able to do look ups for anyone needing to know the unit of a Confederate soldier. Because of the size of the roster, I am unable to look up a list of unit members, but I can do other look ups. I will have a full muster roll of both the 27th Mississippi and the Washington Artillery posted online as soon as I have them compiled.
