    3. To All This is a genealogy list and tho sometimes it is fun to interject a cute item- it is NOT the purpose of this list. You obviously have not read the rules abt. slamming nor have netiquette This is not a chat room- it is a list for finding our ancestors and sharing info. Please- let's not lower ourselves to being unkind to another person- this isn't the season for it- nor is it allowed on these lists I hope all of you that enjoy sharing information related to genealogy- appreciate the purpose of this list and continue sharing- and those of you that have formed friendships on the list- will continue to do so--OFF list and privately Have a joyful and peaceful holiday Lissa Terpening

    1. need some help here
    2. Cheryl
    3. Hi ! I'm new to the list and am located in the Northern panhandle of WV. I can trade lookups also. I need a death NAME & DATE for a KRUPICA or KARMEN who was shot in the early 1900's in the Brooklyn area of New York. (grandparents were moved from that area by 1920 and grandfather was there since around 1896 and grandmother around 1910) The grandparents are gone now, but some of my aunts and uncles remember hearing about a brother of their father or mother who was killed. I can do look ups in the Marshall or Ohio County, West Virginia area for trade. Just need something positive to mention when I write for the death certificate or look for an obit. I know it sounds an impossible task, but is anyone willing to try? TIA Cheryl Oh the wishes I've had that I started this when I was 8 yrs old when the grandparents were still alive.....also wish that their children had paid closer attention too! -- Home page: http://home.earthlink.net/~cmccombs/ Reach me by ICQ# 187576 ListMistress for Scotland-GenWeb-L@rootsweb.com ONLINE WELCOME MESSAGE: http://home.earthlink.net/~cmccombs/welcmsg.htm ListMistress for the Fordyce@onelist.com mailing list

    2. I realize that I will probably get a lot of hate mail, and I hate to sound like an old grouch, but I put in a 10 hr day, and come in and check my mail. I am serious about my genealogy, and my time is limited. I would really appreciate it if any of you that want to personally correspond, would do so on you personal e-mail addresses and not on GenSwap. Your personal mail is probably not very interesting to most of us, ( it definitely isn't to me) and it does waste a lot of everyone else's time. Thanks

    3. This Linda ("Linda T.") also lives in "sunny" southern California, and when I drove a colleague home from L. A. to San Bernardino last night, it was down to 30 degrees are 8:30 p.m. out there. Our baby tornado that hit Sunday night may be repeated (at least high winds are predicted), and we had snow and black ice on all mountain highways (accompanied by the predictable accidents and delays) on Sunday, so, yes, we have WEATHER in Sunny Southern Cal., too! Personally, I love it. It's about time we had some season other than sun and smog. "Linda T." Linda K. 1. Garage treasures
    2. Froggee
    3. Hey guys, I was searching through my garage and came across some things that I was given as a child from my grandmother. If you or a friend can benefit from them, I will be more than happy look at them for you. I know they are not much, but they may help someone ;-) I have 2 newspapers in very good readable condition. First one is the following front pages only of "The Chicago Daily Tribune" Dates: Friday Sept. 1, 1939 Monday Dec. 8, 1941 Wed. May 6, 1942 Saturday May 9, 1942 Saturday June 6, 1942 Nov. 8, 1942 Friday Sept. 3, 1943 Tuesday June 6, 1944 Friday April 13, 1945 Tuesday May 8, 1945 Tuesday Aug. 11, 1945 Wed. Aug., 15, 1945 The second paper is a full version, including local news and obits. It is the "Herald American Chicago" Date: Monday May 7, 1945 Headline "Germany Surrenders" I also have a US Marine Corp. yearbook from the Far East. It is titled as "Battery C Far East 1965-1966 Also a Marine Corps Recruit Depot Yearbook for the Third BATTALION, platoon 346, San Diego. (around the year 1963-64) Last but not least a Yearbook from St. Henry High School Erlanger, KY year 1955 Well that is my find. If you happen to be born on any of the days (not necessarily the year :-) that I listed above, I will be happy to tell you what the Headlines and major articles were that day in History :-) So many people on this list have given me so much, I guess this is my way of being able to return a good deed. -- Wendy Hillman in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Researching YORK & LOVEJOY in Maine, NH & Mass. Hubby and I was there last Nov.22 for our wedding anniversary (it was a spur of the moment thing, we got in the car and drove and 5 hours later we were there). 3. Yes, it snowed here...and being Vegas because it stuck on the ground (at least 2 inches which is a huge amount here) the airport closed, the freeways closed and the power went out...causing despair for one genealogist who had typed several pages of material to send off and hadn't saved it! Alway me. Now its just cold and snowballs are coming in everyother email. I would rather be in Washington DC and warm. I like the machine snowball better than the other type. 3. I live in Las Vegas now. We had snow and snow yesterday (Sun) for a couple of hours it fell and then a couple more stayed on the ground. Kids made lots of snowmen around town. Still is really cold in 40's. High today was 46. So much for the cowboys coming here to rodeo in warm weather. !!!! -----Original Message----- From: Linda K.
