The father may have died before 1962, the year that the Social Security death records began to be computerized. The father may not have had a Social Security card. Not everyone's death, even those who had a card, was reported to the Social Security Department. If you would care to list the man's name I would be willing to search for him in the index, I have been able to find individuals that no one else can.
