I don't know if it is any help but my maternal grandparents name was spelled STOROZUK on all documents until my grandmother became a citizen in the early 1930's. All of a sudden the name was changed to STROZAK! I have no idea if it was an INS typo or my grandmother's wish but it was permanently changed on all documents after that date.
