I am looking for a tool that will let me compare the contents of two GEDCOM files or a GEDCOM with the contents of my BK52 database. I have been sent immense GEDCOM files by other researchers that contain one or more entries for people in my family tree, but have found it very difficult to determine, short of a line by line manual comparison, to figure out what how the new information differs from what I already have. I have used Notepad to view the raw GEDCOM contents, but I find it difficult to make out the relationships that way. I can also load the GEDCOM into BK and create a new database from it, but the only way I see to compare them is to print out the same report from both databases and try to manually compare the two reports. What I'd like to have a tool that can compare two GEDCOM files, after I tell it that individual 123 in GEDCOM "A" is supposed to be the same person as individual 456 in GEDCOM "B", and have it tell me (for example), that "John Doe" in GEDCOM "A" had two wives but the same person in GEDCOM "B" had three wives. Likewise, I'd like two see any discrepancies in dates, places, names, siblings, parents, children, etc., identified, so I can make an informed judgment about the usefulness of the new material.
