Maybe they changed it since you last looked - all I see is a banner ad, the RootsWeb banner and a simple form. Nothing inappropriate, very clean and simple looking. And I have Java enabled. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised not too long ago when it seemed much more "clean" than it had previously. Use http://familysearch.org SSDI instead - it allows you to download the names into a gedcom file. Without banner ads.
Hmmm...thanks for the reply, Sherry. I just brought up IE 5.5 and tried it and found the same as with NS. In fact the download of just the screen with blank fields was 320K, it just went on and on. Ultimately there were Flash and Yahoo upgrade popups and some other advertising popup. Interestingly enough, I closed IE, then reopened, and it went much faster! Wonder what's in my Cookie file? ;-) Don C'est Moi wrote: > > Maybe they changed it since you last looked - all I see is a banner ad, > the RootsWeb banner and a simple form. I just received a reply from RootsWeb: =================== A response to your Help Desk message, "RootsWeb SS DI pages terrible," of Tuesday, 26 February 2002, at 3:48 a.m. follows: Please revisit the form located at http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help.cgi if you wish to respond. Thank You!! The message reads as follows: ------------------------- Hi, I bet you are using Netscape. It seems to be e bug with Netscape and they are working on fixing it. Sorry for the hassles. D. ------------------------- Thanks to those who replied to my initial message. I guess this partially explains why IE didn't have "trouble" with their site.
