You know his birthdate but not the birthplace? Send for his death certificate, which should list his birthplace, parents' names, etc. Get the 1900 and 1910 census for that place and find the family. That will list his siblings, parents and much more information including birthplace of his grandparents. Once you have his birthplace, write for his birth certificate. That's recent enough that it should be on file. Also find his obituary in the newspaper. Many of us would be thrilled to have an ancestor with that much specific information!
