Scot or Scottish is an ethnic group. The term Scotch-Irish appears mainly in America. Typically they are not people of mixed Scot and Irish lineage. But they are Ulster Scots. This group is said to be Scots (mostly Presbyterian) who moved from Scotland to Ireland, then on to Philadelphia were they did not fit in with the English (mostly Church of England) and the Quakers did not take kindly to the goings on between the English and Scots against the Irish. So they moved on to Central PA and then down the Valley of VA where they assimilated into the local population. http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson21.htm Robert > Confederate General Thomas Jonathan 'Stonewall' Jackson. > > Anyone have genealogy information about ancestors of 'Stonewall'? > > [email protected]
