    3. Thanks for the reply. The problem is, my family was very poor, so that is why I wonder about the stone. It looks expensive and I know they did not have any money!     3. The siblings of your grandfather (the children of the great grandfather) may have chipped together to pay for a stone at a later date. This happened with my great grandfather Reid. He died in 1915, his first wife died in 1880 and his second in 1893. The stone for him and his second wife was erected in 1927, according to my aunt.
