Order the microfilm containing the index for birth certificates -- for 1918, that's All boroughs 1917-1918 FHL US/CAN Film 1322465 The indexes are organized by borough, then (I believe in this time period) by month, and finally by name. The birth date and certificate no. will be listed. Unfortunately, their microfilms of the actual birth certificates only go to 1909 so you'll need to deal with the NYC office to get the actual certificate. If you haven't use an LDS Family History Center, you can find their locations at <http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp> Assuming you're in Oxford, I don't see any in Oxfordshire County but hopefully there's one relatively a short distance away.
