    1. Q: historical document preservation - ideal resolution
    2. Yeoman
    3. Can anyone suggest an appropriate resolution for scanning old documents? They are from around the 1850s and are written in slightly- faded quill pen. I want to preserve as much of the detail as possible without the scans taking up a huge amount of space. Is there a happy medium between quality and size?

    1. Anyone intersted in beta testing a new genealogy website/program?
    2. If anyone is interested in creating a dynamic website for their family history, they want make to take a look at our most recent endeavour-- www.familypulse.org. We're set to launch in a few weeks, so you may want to drop your name and e-mail so you'll be among the first to know. Can't give away too much yet, but it will enable users to upload a GEDCOM, and create an amazing website with little to no web-design skill, and will allow users to upload pictures and stories about each ancestor, have a family blog, easily contact family members researching the same line and a lot more that we'll save for the actual launch...perfect for the family association or the individual family historian. Will make collaboration easy for families spread all over the world. http://www.familypulse.org Will post again once we've officially launched!

    1. Q: The Boy Scout Jamboree newspaper for 1953
    2. KirGo
    3. I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to ask this. [I have NO clue where else I COULD.] My mother is in her 80s. Her brother died nearly three decades ago. In addition to searching our family tree, she is trying to write up detailed 'life stories' of those that she knew well. She recently discovered that her brother had won a free plane flight back in 1953 for (apparently) some writing or presentation to the Boy Scouts. She tried contacting the Boy Scout museum in Texas only to find that the 1953 issue of their paper that might contain the answer to her question was the ONLY year around that time that they did not have available. So... her question is: How did 13 year old Bill Monahan win the Boy Scout Jamboree prize of an across-country flight in a jet plane in 1953? She said that she would pay $25 to the first person who could definitively get her this information (possibly with a scan of the paper if possible, or other source), and her e-mail address for that response is: Patmonaghan522@aol.com Again, if this is not an appropriate place to ask this, I sincerely apologise. Thank you VERY much for any assistance with this. ~Kirgo
