    3. The library where I work recently ponied up for an institutional subscription to Ancestry Plus for our patrons. Since I get to lead a little tutorial in which I present it to staff & patrons, I did a little counting. Ancestry presently offers around 2600 databases, counting each census year, each city directory, each scanned-in/OCr'ed book as a separate database. By comparison, the library where I work already owns over 5,000 published genealogies and over 30,000 local history titles. And I haven't even counted our census holdings & indices yet. So, IMHO, if you have a real library or FHC nearby, you're better off. What *exactly* do you get for the annual subscription that you can't get on a 3 month subscription? You might want to try it for 3 months, or take one of their free-trial offers, just to see what you're getting. Back when they offered each new database free for 21 days, I rarely found anything on those that was useful. The on-line census indices, which I access via a local library's subscription, has given a reference on about 50% of the names I'm hunting (given name + surname combo). It has missed a few because someone misread the name or mistyped it, or something. The search I did for someone in TN turned up negative, but I have yet to discover whether the family wasn't in TN or if the database is wrong. (g) The databases appear to be heavily New England. There isn't much in there, other than the census, for Virginia, Maryland, or Georgia. The Blue'n'Gray stuff isn't impressive, there are several MUCH better sites with an easier payment plan, including several that are flat-out free. But -- all that is from at least two years ago; abt 2 years ago I quit going there monthly and sometime between then and now they seem to have eliminated the freebies. Bottom line? Yeah, you may regret spending the money, but then again, you may also regret NOT spending it. Hard for anyone else to say. Cheryl

They were married on Dec 18 1891. Children are: Frank James, Eliza Isabel, Thomas, Charles A, Rhoda Josephine, Lola Gestina, Alvin Holden, and Samuel Kenneth. Specifically I need to know where TWC was born and any info on AEE. I know that AEE has a brother Frank and I believe that her father's name was John. Also, the location of the marriage would be nice. Thanks in advance for any help. If this is your branch, please email me so we can exchange information!! Whether you subscribe obviously depends on what you're looking for and the size of your checkbook. I use the census records to fill in names, locations, immigration/migration patterns, etc. and as confirmation for what I already have from 1790 forward. I find very little to help me prior to 1790. If your family was prominent there are sources all over the internet; if not, sources are scarce. You wind up building your case on preponderance of evidence. My probable ggg grandfather named one girl and "other children" in his will - and he apparently did not own land. I found the number of people "in his household" in the 1790, 1800 and 1810 censuses. Since that agrees with what I believe to be his actual family, I theorize my ancestry and look for, probably non-existent, proof. I can go from my bed to the computer - I have to dress differently to go to the library to check census records. 8-) Hugh
