Pat, If you had gone to our Online Help Center and from there to our knowledge base using the search terms "cd online search" would have shown you an article for the information you were looking for. Drop it already. Hence my use of the qualifier "If it's his auction" (included for your reference above). No need to shout because you can't be bothered to read that which I have written. If people like me and Mr. Heiling make you cranky, perhaps you'd be well-suited to learn how to set up a killfile. Failing that, perhaps you could actually bother to read the words that are written in the messages you are responding to. I have been searching for my grandfather, Gustav Selmer Gunderson, for several years. He died when my father was a child, and my father's mother died soon after, leaving no family links to the Gunderson's. I know a little, but not enough to credit or discredit any other information I find. I have Gustav's memorial book from his funeral, and a Mr. & Mrs. Orville Gunderson signed the book. There were two services held at which they could have signed, one in Big Bend, MN and another in Park Rapids, MN. I am hoping the Orville who signed is family. This is what I know for sure about my grandfather Gustav: Gustav Selmer Gunderson, b March 30, 1893 d April 10, 1958. He lived in many parts of MN, Alexandria, Park Rapids, Big Bend, and possibly South or North Dakota. His wives were Marie Golden and Olga Juliet Snelling. Children are Lavon Gunderson and Donald Gunderson, my father. I think Gustav's parents were John and Laura Gunderson, and I think his siblings were Edward Gunderson and Mina Gunderson Anderson. I know he was in the military in 1916. If any of this sounds familiar at all, please contact me. I have info to trade on many surnames, my tree has about 5000 people. Many Thanks kirajc@cox-internet.com -- ____________________________________________________ Ring the bells you still can ring, forget the perfect offering! As I have found, it helps to have someone on site to help with some searching, especially if they know local collections. I helped someone from Sweden find their grandfather's grave here in Alaska about a year and a half ago, and also researched the newspaper records, state archives, and yukon mining claims for them. there's a lot of stuff out there that's still not on line, but at least most library catalogs are now.

Yes Dennis, I know about that, but I have not been able to find anything yet. The lost boys uncle was a miner in Leadville until 1906 so I have done some research on Leadville. I have tried to find something i newspapers from that time, but no luck. Do you know if the troubles went on into 1906? As I live in Sweden I need any help I can get to find the right places and databases to search. "Dennis P. I upgraded my FTM to version 9. I noticed that bit about "have to contact technical support for instructions...", but I never did since the button that always gave me access to the CD still worked after the upgrade. Actually, reading CDs is the main thing I use FTM for - my genealogy data still resides in another program, although I convert it to GEDCOM and import it into FTM in order to get nice printouts. Leadville was a hotbed of labor union organizing during that time period, and mine owners not only used Pinkerton private armies, but got the governor to call out the Colorado National Guard. Quite a few union organizers and strikers were killed, if I recall correctly. A lot of the Wobblies (IWW --- International Workers of the World) were Swedes, including Joe Hill, who was later executed in Utah by firing squad on trumped up charges. I'm sure there must be books available about the strikes, etc. A Google search on +Leadville +strike got over a thousand hits.
Greetings! I've only been doing this genealogy thing for about 6 months now and I'm hitting a lot of brick walls. I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me. I'm primarily researching my mothers family and my fathers. Unfortunately, my mother is no help at all and I don't speak to my father. So, I was wondering if any of you out there had any info on the Willey's from Cherryfield, Maine and the Wilmots from NH and/or CA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
