    3. Hi Terry, If as you state you have your grand parents marriage certificate then this ought to tell you their respective birth places, it ought to also tell you what age they where when they married, it ought to also tell you who their fathers where. This being the case you have enough information to find their births as you have the Ages at time of marriage( thus time period when likely born ) and you have the locality were born. Use http://www.freebdm.com as this will save you money on looking up the index's on line, then use http://www.1837online.com to view the certificates. 3. You might try this link: http://www.pa-roots.com/~chester/tombstone_symbols__and_their_mea.htm "Earthly Sorrow" is the meaning of the willow tree, according to this page. I took a guided trolley tour of Savannah, Georgia a few years ago. The driver commented about the main graveyard in the city, that Union soldiers were bivouacked there sometime during the civil war. The soldiers altered the gravestones with naughty sayings and other marks just to kill time. So you cannot always believe what you see on a gravestone. 3. I finally found my GGrandfather's grave/headstone in Sussex Co., New Jersey and noted the deeply-set willows carved in the headstone. He was a poor man but it was a beautiful headstone. What I mainly wanted to ask was: Someone told me that a headstone with a willow engraved on it meant that the person had a Native American background. I would think that a "willow" engraving in the headstone would just symbolize "weeping willow," as in "grief." Does anyone have a comment? We are dark in our family... Kathleen [email protected]

    2. Dear All, Thank you for all you many interesting enquires, I shall get round to them ASAP I should have time to take a few more next. so If you've got an Probate that you think just might provide that missing clue, drop me an e:mail and I'll see what can be done. I shall need 1. Name of the Testator (That's the person who has made the will) 2. Approx area 3. date of Testators death (approx) One or two pionts from the last post. Post 1858 means AFTER 1858 that is between 1858 and the present I have no way of getting information on the wills of people who are still alive These are provate documents untill they are ADMITTED to PROBATE and can then be found in the Probate Registry. I can not get information about SCOTTISH WILLS as they are dealt with seperatly from Edinburgh. As I am trying to do this so as to maximise the use of my time while at the probate registry and fitting these in while I am doing my own stuff I am not able to under take searches such as Find and list all the Bloggs wills between 1858 and present. I you need someone to do that it would take them days and they would need to be paid!!! best wishes Jules
