I think he wants the organization-chart sort of chart, and PAF won't do that one. I don't remember whether PAF Companion ($15, requires PAF) does, but I know PAFCompanion will do a chart with the ancestor on the left and the descendants on the right (kind of a reverse pedigree). The only program I know for sure makes the chart is Family Tree Maker. Does the free version of Legacy do it? Can anyone suggest a program to produce plain old *vanilla* flavoured family trees i.e. an automated way of producing the standard vertical tree that until a few years ago was done manually. I'm not looking for any bells & whistles such as picture clips etc. - just the names of a couple at the top with a line coming down showing their issue and so on. I'm quite willing to add the data manually but would like something that puts out a decent hardcopy and/or a ppt/pdf file etc. TIA Bart

Spam from VoteNader.org? (Or naderexplore04.org) You may have received spam email recently that appears to come from our campaign, or be about our campaign -- perhaps the "From" and or "Reply-to" addresses look like they are coming from VoteNader.org. Or perhaps you have received a message that appears to come from an individual (if the address is real, the real owner probably did not send this email either) with suppressed recipients. Or maybe you received an email that appeared to come from yourself promoting our site. These messages are NOT from Nader for President 2004, and these email tactics are NOT condoned by our campaign in any way. UPDATE: Some of the latest forged emails have been made to appear to be coming from naderexplore04.org. Again, we are not responsible for this unfortunate abuse of email, and there is little in the technical sense that we can do to prevent this as it has nothing to do with our actual infrastructure. We are collecting information. NOTE: The emails with malicious code (viruses, worms, etc.) often have attachments. Our campaign will NEVER send attachments in our announcement emails to you. Please be sure that you have anti-virus software and have the latest updates available for your anti-virus software. Our hosting service has alerted us to say that Nader for President 2004 appears to be the target of what is called a "Joe Job." Such an event is where a spammer forges email to make it appear to have come from some other domain (such as ours -- or yourself). This is hard to prevent on our end and part of the insecure nature of the email protocol in general. Members of our actual email list must request to receive email from us (either through Ralph's signup sheets or subscribing during our exploratory phase, or now on our campaign site). When one signs up for email they must reply to a confirmation message before they receive our list announcements. From Eric Grundset, DAR Librarian, from the genealib list: The manuscript collection of the NGS Library was transferred to the DAR Library in late March 2004. Approximately 150 boxes of genealogical materials constitute the collection. NGS retained some manuscript material for further study or for other reasons. Catalogers at the DAR Library are presently processing the material, which will be made available to researchers as soon as each separate collection is processed. The descriptions of these collections will be accessible through the DAR Library's online catalog at www.dar.org. The DAR Library is pleased to accept this material, which was offered to us to help NGS reduce it's need for storage and office space. Please feel free to pass this message on to others. Gang, I'm hoping someone may be able to fill in some details on what appears to be a relative who died 19 Oct 1990 in Vancouver - he's buried in the Mountain View Cemetery (Section HORNE 2, Block 08, Lot 1389) The gent in question is Clifton Ettery LOWRY, and I think I have him placed as a descendant of Roy LOWRY & Elizabeth HARRISON ORR (who was born 1878, Dunblane, Scotland). However this is just an assumption (no matter how well it fits - Elizabeth's mother was an ETTERY, and the family did move to Canada). If this family is familiar to anyone I would deeply appreciate any information you can send, as I know only a little of Elizabeth's branch of the tree. Regards Kevin Ettery
Bill Here's what I found on your HOUDEK family. Appears many came together as they are listed on the same manifest but the year is not listed, only the name, age and final destination. Let me add that it's not necessary to set & unset the Generic/Text printer as the *systemwide* printer "Default". That can all be handled within PAF itself and would effect only PAF and no other printing jobs. e.g. When in the "Books" tab of reports, click "Page Setup" and you can click on "Printer" when that screen comes up. Use the scroll-arrow there to choose your "Default" printer. That will set the default for PAF, but won't effect any other printing HTH Bob
