I'm just looking at census information, and I'm seeing some similarities between your John, and my husband's Antonio (Anthony / Tony). For one thing, they both worked at the "Rubber shop" in 1920. I just asked my husband, and he said it might have been the "Simplex Wire & Cable Co." on Portland St., Cambridge. Also, your John was 34, arriving 1903, and my Tony was 34, arriving 1904 (according to census). Also, your John had a nephew?, living with them, Joseph PACHECO, 22, who arrived in 1916. If John was 34, and he had a nephew, 22, then John must have had a much older brother. (Older brother, possibly 55? ??) (The nephew also worked in the Rubber shop.) As I said, if you can find out if your family came from the Ponta Degada area of Sao Miguel, then we might find a strong connection.
