Hello, I've been thinking about my ancestors, David LORING and Elizabeth FAIRSERVICE this week. I've found their marriage mentioned several times this morning, in on-line records: Feb. 2, 176(4), by Rev. BYLES in Boston, MA. There is very limited information on-line on the FAIRSERVICE name. In regards to the 1700's in New England, there might have been a family in "Maine" and one in MA, and possibly a couple of families in the Province of Quebec. One record on-line has Elizabeth being born in 1750 in Boston, MA. But, if she married in 1764, she would have only been 13 or 14. A better birth year would be 1740. I checked census records and find: FAIRSERVICE, ROBT (1790 U.S. Census) MASSACHUSETTS , SUFFOLK, BOSTON Series: M637 Roll: 4 Page: 52 FAIRSERVICE, JOHN (1790 U.S. Census) MASSACHUSETTS , SUFFOLK, BOSTON Series: M637 Roll: 4 Page: 53 FAIRSERVICE, JOHN (1790 U.S. Census) MAINE , LINCOLN, POWNALBOROUGH Series: M637 Roll: 2 Page: 254 FAIRSERVICE, THOMAS (1790 U.S. Census) MAINE , LINCOLN, POWNALBOROUGH Series: M637 Roll: 2 Page: 254 So there were people in New England in 1700's. By 1880 there were only 15 people with the name in the US. And other sites say that some of the families came from Ireland and Scotland. But, the 1881 England and Canada census pages show more people with the name at that time - in those places. It is strange that several people have posted information on the David LORING / Elizabeth FAIRSERVICE marriage and family. But, none I find mention Elizabeth's parents and birth, etc. Betty (near Lowell, MA) (One record on-line mentioned a daughter, Sarah Hutchinson LORING married in 1793 in Boston to David BASS. One of the HUTCHINSON descendants was named, Dr. Leslie "Loring" HUTCHINSON, so there was a strong connection between the families.) (Reminder that Elizabeth LORING and Jacob HOMER's daughter, Betsey, married Thomas HUTCHINSON.)
