    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] YOUNG family, 1880-1950 near Boston
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, Just a quick query to ask whether anyone is researching the YOUNG families which lived in Greater Boston in the 1880 to 1950 timeframe. I'm looking for more information on an Arthur YOUNG, born in 1920's in MA. The reason I'm interested in him is that the 1950 obituary for Robert KERR in Washington State said that he was survived by a nephew, Arthur YOUNG in MA. Robert was in his 80's when he passed. And, I don't know about this man and how he is related to the KERR family. One of my suspicions is that he was a nephew of his late wife, Mrs. Margaret (MacLEAN) KERR (from a Nova Scotia family). The 1880 census shows 2 Arthur YOUNGS born ~1880. But, a 1910 and 1920 census shows an Arthur born ~1885. I believe the family I'm interested in learning about lived in the Malden and Everett area. And hopefully the Arthur born ~1923 and dying in 2008 was the nephew I'm looking for, and was part of one of those families in Greater Boston. The SSDI shows an Arthur YOUNG, b1923, d2008. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: Robert KERR and Elizabeth HENDERSON were born in Canada in 1827, shortly after their parents arrived in the Prov. of Quebec. Their oldest son, William, came down to MA ~1874 and married here. One of their daughters, Mary Ann, came down ~1879, and married here to William McINNIS. Robert and Elizabeth came down in 1880's/1890's (?), and died here in 1904 and 1902. (William died in 1905.) I believe their 2 youngest, sons, Robert and Joseph KERR, came down with them. They married 2 MacLEAN cousins in MA, and in ~1901 moved to Washington State. The 2 wives died in the 1920's. Robert remained there and died in 1950. The obituary stated that Joseph had returned to MA and was living in Dorchester. (I will check my notes to see if William KERR and his children had any YOUNG in-laws.) (Robert and Joseph did not have children.) (I am missing one sister, and I don't know what happened to Hannah Jane KERR in the Prov. of Quebec.) This extended KERR family was always in the Malden, Everett, Somerville, Medford area.
