Hello, Someone on the MA "Board" has mentioned the "Jay Shoe Mfg. Co." in Cambridge. It was reported to have been at 120 Potter St. I just checked my old street-map of Cambridge, and I'm only finding a short Potter Place. Probably there was a Potter St. and it was renamed. Potter Place is off of Mass. Ave., near the Somerville line I've looked on-line twice, and I find it mentioned on only a few sites. And it is mentioned in regards to several states. And, I've seen "Jay shoes" mentioned a few times. But, I'm not finding any sites which talks about the company. I just remembered to check the surname, JAY, and in 1920 I find a Frank JAY (from MA) in Cambridge. But, he has an unusual occupation: Engineer in a Crematory. There's a Fred JAY in Somerville (from England), and he is a manufacturer, but I can't read the company name: .. O... house? There's a Harry JAY in Cambridge (from Canada), but the occupations on that page are unreadable. There's a Stephen JAY in Cambridge (from ME), and he is another man working in the "Rubber shop." (Watertown?) Here's another unusual record. There's a Stephen JAY in Somerville (from MA) who is listed as a "patient" (with another man) in the private home of a TARBELL family - where Mr. TARBELL is listed as an Automobile Salesman. Oh, at the top of the page it says that these 2 "patients" are mentioned as "Tuberculosis Cumb? / Camb?." Does anyone remember this company? Betty (near Lowell, MA)
