Hello, I have a question about whether you can request one person's "family tree" records from the Mormon Church. I'll explain a little. I've mentioned the HUTCHINSON Farm and the families that lived there many times. The HUTCHINSON's bought it from a GARDNER family in the 1720's and it existed until the 1950's. During the late 1800's, the families that lived there became "land rich and money poor." Somewhere around 1900 one-half of the farm was sold. When my "Grandma KIDDER" died in 1958, the seond half of the farm was sold. In that farm were 2 siblings who never married, so their parents, Thomas and Mary HUTCHINSON had no grandchildren. Across the street were Jacob and Eliza HUTCHINSON who had 3 children, but one daughter died as a teen. George was the their son. He married and had a son, Carleton. Carleton married and had a son, Leslie. There were several divorces in that extended family, so the children probably lived in 2 homes, or went back and forth. Carleton's EX lived in Cambridge, and that is where Leslie lived. And, even though we lived in the next town, I have no memory of meeting that family. It was only 2-3 years ago I took more interest in finding out more about Leslie. I found out he became Dr. Leslie "Loring" HUTCHINSON, a Podiatrist in Cambridge, possibly up past 1960. Then I found out he had married, and they had one son, Robert HUTCHINSON. Unfortunately, I didn't find out about "Bob" HUTCHINSON until 2 years after he had been killed in a car accident. Because he lived in Ayer and died in Westford, I was able to find his obituary. From that I found out he was a teacher in Ayer, and he had never married. That meant he was the last, male HUTCHINSON from the Farm in Winchester. * I went to Ayer Town Hall and saw the information on his death record. It said that a maternal cousin was the contact. I wrote to the lady, and she responded. But she didn't offer information, and she said that Bob did not know anything about his family-tree. When I reread his obituary last week, I was reminded that he was a member of the Mormon Church in Littleton. I mentioned that to a researcher in Ayer, and she reminded me -- if Bob did belong to that church, he "DID" know his family-tree ! (That had totally slipped by me 2 yrs. ago.) :o( *** So, my question is: Is there a way for me to obtain a copy of this family-tree of -- Robert Loring HUTCHINSON (1937-2005) -- from the Mormon Church ??? (Should I visit the meetinghouse in Littleton?) Betty (near Lowell, MA) * There was another brother from the Farm, John HUTCHINSON, who moved to Brooklyn, NY, ~1860. I have not been able to find out about his descendants. FYI: In Bob HUTCHINSON's obituary, I was reminded that he graduated from BU. I took a chance and e-mailed the BU Alumni Office. Several days later I received a copy of a picture from a 1959 yearbook. I had an old picture of his grandfather, Carleton, and he looked just like him. So, his father, the doctor, probably looked like them. ( A few weeks ago I was at Bob's gravestone in Ayer, and someone had left a bouquet of roses.)

Betty: We went to one of the LDS family history centers and found some helpful volunteers and good links ot information. I don't know if you can get a person's tree per se, but if you find the people for whom you are looking on the familysearch.org website you can use those film numbers to make requests to see the actual microfilms. They had various other resources available too. You can look on the familysearch site too to find what centers are near you, their hours, contact info, etc. Looks like the closest one to you might be in Salem, or possibly Exeter, NH. The people who staff the center offices are some of those same ones who are transcribing the records onto the website.
