Margaret MacCormack, 25 yrs. old, daughter of Leo McCormack and Margaret MacDonald, lived at 159 Cabot Street in Boston, MA. Both were born in Boston, MA. in ca. 1893 and in ca. 1890 respectively. ( Note: This is the couple that I am researching. ). In the 1900 census in Boston, MA.: Leo McCormack: HOH; b. Aug., 1855; 44 yrs.; m. 12 yrs; b. Canada; parents b. Canada; carpenter; imm. in 1880; in U.S. for 20 yrs.; alien. Margaret: wife; b. Aug., 1856; 43 yrs.; had 3 children; 3 living; b. Canada; parents b. Canada. Mary: dau.; b. June. 1890; 10 yrs.; b. MA. Laura: dau.; b. May, 1892; 8 yrs.; b. MA. Clara: dau.; b. Jan., 1895; 5 yrs.; b. MA. In the 1910 census for Boston, MA. on Harrison Avenue: Leo McCormack: HOH; 55 yrs.; m. 21 yrs.; immigrated in 1874; alien; carpenter, etc. Margaret: wife; 56 yrs.; had 3 children; 2 living ( hard to read ); immigrated in 1869, etc. Margaret E.: dau.; 20 yrs.; single; born ca. 1890 in MA. Daniel J.: son; 17 yrs.; single; b. MA.; born ca. 1893. There is a birth record for Mary Emily McCormack on Nov. 20, 1890 in Boston, daughter of Leo and Margaret McCormack. Have not been able to locate birth records for Laura and Clara, their other daughters. There is a birth record for Daniel G. McCormack, son of Leo and Margaret McCormack...but where was he in the 1900 census? And when did Mary Emily become Margaret Ellen? If that wasn't enough, there was a Margaret Ellen McCormack, born July 23, 1890 in Boston, MA., daughter of Henry and Catherine McCormack, who seemed to drop off the face of the earth. But the family swears that Margaret Ellen McCormack was born ca. 1890 in Boston, MA. d/o Leo McCormack and Margaret MacDonald. And the marriage record for Margaret Ellen McCormack to Peter A. McPhee...the correct couple in the family...definitely has her as daughter of Leo McCormack and Margaret MacDonald. Why is there a birth record for Mary Emily McCormack, d/o Leo McCormack, but no birth record for Margaret Ellen, d/o Leo McCormack? Why are there no birth records for her sisters: Laura ( born May, 1892 in MA. ) and Clara ( born Jan. 1895 in MA.)? There is a birth record for Daniel Glover, son of Leo McCormack, born ca. 1893, but where was he in the 1900 census? In 1900, Leo and Margaret McCormack had 3 children, 3 living: Mary, Laura, and Clara. In 1910, Leo and Margaret had 3 children, 2 living ( hard to read ): Margaret E. and Daniel J.
