    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] William and Anne HUTCHINSON, 1634

    3. Hello, In this morning's "MassMoments" e-mails there is information on "Anne HUTCHINSON" who arrived in the MA Bay Colony in 1634. She was a "religious activist" of her time. http://www.massmoments.org/moment.cfm?mid=88 Usually these daily e-mails are interesting and informative and fairly accurate. But, this morning, I see a possible "fact" which is not a fact. It states that William and Anne and their 15 children were on the ship, "Griffin," which arrived in the Colony in 1634. But, if you check the list of passengers on that ship, you only find the names of .8. of their children. http://www.ourpast.org/genealogy/histories/griffin.htm If I'm remembering the story correctly, their oldest son had joined his uncle when his uncle was heading to the Colony before them. And the uncle and the son were "sent ahead" in order to get a house built - for the large family which would be arriving in 1634. I've only read a children's book about the surviving child of the "Long Island massacre" of the family (in recent years). But, I've read probably on-line that, when "Anne Marbury HUTCHINSON" left her "nice, white cottage, with a nice flowery garden" in England, she didn't know what to expect. But, when she arrived in the Colony and saw the "very rustic cabin" in the woods where she was expected to live, she sat down and cried. .. At this moment, I don't remember how many HUTCHINSON patriarchs arrived in the Colony during the 1630's. But, I found out that my ancestor, George HUTCHINSON, and his brother, Thomas HUTCHINSON, arriving in 1630, were not related to the above William HUTCHINSON. (or at least not directly related) ... One of my genealogy-disappointments is .. having several, important ancestors from 1600's MA Bay Colony -- who have no "family history book" published about them. (In addition to the HUTCHINSON brothers, there is Francis MOORE.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) Remember to check the archives of all the Lists and Boards for your surnames and place-names.
