Hello, I've been thinking about the WRIGHT families in Concord, MA, again this morning. I've been checking out the archives of the Boards and Lists, and I was reminded of the "Wright Tavern" in Concord. I just read that it was built in 1747 by Ephraim JONES, who operated it until 1751. But in April 1775, it was managed by Amos WRIGHT, and from then on it was known as the "WRIGHT Tavern." (Information on it is on the web site for the Concord, MA, Historical Society, etc.) I did a little on-line investigating, and Amos WRIGHT (1738-1792), was one of 13 children born to Joseph WRIGHT and Elizabeth (?), all in Concord. And I read that Joseph was the son of Samuel WRIGHT and Mary HOSMER. If I'm reading my notes correctly, Samuel, b1661, was the son of Edward WRIGHT and Elizabeth MELLOWS. And, Edward seems to be the son of Francis WRIGHT and Mary WIGGINS. And Francis seems to be the patriarch of that line. Back in November, I mentioned that my gr-gr-grandmother, Adelaide (HUTCHINSON) RICE, had an older brother, George Homer HUTCHINSON, b1845 (both in Winchester, MA). His first wife was Mary Elizabeth WRIGHT, b1843 in Concord, MA. From very helpful researchers, I found out she was one of the children of James WRIGHT and Mary R. (?). (Can't find my notes on her maiden name.) I'm told James was one of the children of Nathan Meriam WRIGHT and Sally TUTTLE. Another child was Hapgood WRIGHT, b1811. And, Nathan / Nathaniel WRIGHT was one of the children of Aaron WRIGHT and Hepzibah WHEELER?. (He had 2nd wife, Dolly HOSMER?). In summary, it looks like all the WRIGHT families in Concord, MA, in 1600's and 1700's were all related, and possibly all descended from the Jospeh and Elizabeth WRIGHT who had 9 sons (7 lived to adulthood). So, I'm curious whether the Aaron WRIGHT, the ancestor of Mary Elizabeth, b1843, was part of that extended family. Oops. I just rechecked the LDS site, and someone there has Aaron as the son of Joseph WRIGHT, b1722, and this Joseph was the son of the Joseph WRIGHT mentioned above, the father of Amos (of the WRIGHT Tavern). So, the family of Amos and the family of Mary Elizabeth were connected. So, my great-grandmother's first cousin, Carleton Homer HUTCHINSON, b1870 MA, goes back to the "Wright Tavern" family of Concord, MA, through his mother. * I sure wish his grandson, Robert HUTCHINSON, a teacher in Ayer, MA, until he was killed in a car accident a few years ago, would have lived long enough to find out about his ancestors. I was told by his cousin that he did not know about his father's family tree. His father was Dr. L. Loring HUTCHINSON, a podiatrist in Cambridge up until the 1970's. His parents had divorced, and I don't know if "Loring" had too much contact with his father. (I didn't know about Robert until a year or so ago.) By the way, I just checked the archives of this MAMIDDLE List, and the HOSMER name has been discussed many times. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: Since it is almost April .. :o) ... it's almost time to talk about "Patriots' Day." And the "Wright Tavern" was an important part of .. April 19, 1775. But, it's too bad .. Ephraim JONES .. isn't discussed too often. I also noticed on-line that there are "Wright Taverns" in other places in MA.
