Interesting I"m doing some cleaning and have found 3 Bibles, one is Catholic and my mom's, one a New American Standard and mine a King James version. None of the 3 have a place to write in births, marriages or deaths. From the way everyone talks I thought all Bibles came with pages for records. -- Cindyp http://grammiesbears.com http://teambeachbody.com/cindylu http://OurGV.com/cynthiaphillips http://shaklee.net/naturalngreen
No. Not all bibles come with inscription pages. In fact, the majority don't. -----Original Message----- From: genmassachusetts-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:genmassachusetts-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Cynthia Phillips Sent: Sunday, March 22, 2009 12:46 PM To: genmassachusetts@rootsweb.com; ancestorhunters@yahoogroups.com Subject: [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Family Bibles Interesting I"m doing some cleaning and have found 3 Bibles, one is Catholic and my mom's, one a New American Standard and mine a King James version. Hi Cindy, If you search for "family Bible" at eBay, you usually find about 20+ BIBLE's up for sale. You can look at the pictures of them and the descriptions for them and usually tell whether they have pages for writing "family vitals." It is also something that researchers should do. Many of the "auctions" for them offer the "family info" which is in the BIBLE which is being sold. And, if lucky, the Seller, will give you the information - upon request. But, you need the description carefully because many Sellers do not think that "family vitals" in the BIBLE they are selling are important. It is usually the very old and very large BIBLEs which have the "family pages" in them - according to what I've seen on-line. (On a recent search, I discovered that several of the very large, very old BIBLEs with "family vitals" in them were about PA families. Were they more important in Pennsylvania?) (Disclaimer: I am not an eBay Seller and have no connection to anything being auctioned there. But, I have had the luck of finding some genealogy / history books there for a very reasonable price.)
