    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Simeon CROSBY, b1761 Billerica - Soldier ??

    3. Hello, One of my ancestors was Simeon CROSBY, born 1761 in Billerica.* In April 1775, he would have been just turning 14. I have never read anywhere whether he fought in the Revolutionary War. Does anyone know if there is a way for me to find out? It was in 2007 that I spent a month looking into this man, and I found out that researchers had him as a son with a family in Shrewsbury, MA - that was the wrong family. I cannot prove it, but I believe he was the son of Jessaniah CROSBY of Billerica, MA. The "vital records" only say Jessaniah's youngest child was "a son" b1761. I just checked the Billerica book, and Jessaniah died in 1774, and several of his older sons went north to NH. There is no mention of these men "serving." I just checked the chapter, "The Revolution," and there is a list of ".. Soldiers from Billerica in the Revolutionary War." There are 8 CROSBY's mentioned, including a Simon. But, there were many descendants of the "Simon CROSBY of 1600's Billerica" with the name, Simon. So, I don't know which if he was Simeon. My Simeon CROSBY married in Cambridge or West Cambridge, MA, in 1787 to Lydia Harrington FROST. There is no way of my finding out when Simeon moved to Cambridge or West Cambridge. Possibly it was between 1781 and 1784. Speaking of FROST, my sister just reminded me that 2 FROST brothers from West Cambridge (now Arlington) fought in the War: Ephraim and Samuel - from West Cambridge. (These families are discussed in the "history of Arlington.") (I just looked in that book and Simeon is only very briefly mentioned.) (Lydia H. FROST was born 1766 to Samuel FROST and Abigail CUTTER. Their siblings were: Ephraim FROST and Mary CUTTER. I am descended from both.) For people in New England, have a pleasant holiday weekend ! Betty (near Lowell, MA)
