Y'all have been SO good at helping me knock over brick walls. This is another. One of my ancestors, Aurelie Gregoire, married Flavien Naud/Nault on 28 Jan 1868 at Grondines, Quebec. The last mention of him is in the birth of a child in March 1875 at St. Charles-des-Grondines. I've gone through the parish registers of Grondines (on the Mormon beta site) page by page from March of 1875 to June of 1880. It's a tedious task, but I was hoping to find his burial. There is no sign of him. By 1880, she is a widow. My hunch is that he died in Massachusetts since I find her living in Fall River MA in the 1880 census, with an 11-year old daughter, and listed as a widow running a boarding house, with several mill workers as boarders. I suspect she and Flavien went to work in the mills, and he may have died there. Nine months later, she is back in Quebec with her daughter, and 2 years later is remarried. Any help finding a date/place of death for Flavien will be greatly appreciated.
