Hi Sister Therese, Out of curiousity, I went to the web site for the City of Lawrence to see how the City Clerk's office handles genealogy requests. It seems that a researcher has to go there in person, or hire someone to go there. http://www.ci.lawrence.ma.us/Pages/LawrenceMA_Clerk/geneology And there are 2 fees, one for looking at their Index and one for looking at the "registers." I guess this is another place where someone in MA could start a part-time job: Visiting city Clerk's offices and doing research - for a fee. (The other place would be the "Family & Probate Court" in Cambridge.) Perhaps someone on the Essex Co.
