I don't have the reference off hand but this John GARDNER was awarded 20 or 25 acres at Green Harbor (Marshfield?), which was the custom for those who completed their indenture contract. Is this a recorded document? Also, there has been speculation that his wife Mary, surname unknown, was Mary Arnold. Has that ever been proven? thanks, Charles

Charles - PCR 1:165 You could answer many of these questions for yourself by downloading PCR and my index to it - see my messages in this list posted yesterday. >Also, there has been speculation that his wife Mary, surname unknown, was >Mary Arnold. Has that ever been proven? You are confusing two different men with the same name. John Gardner of Plymouth was the indentured servant. There is no evidence that he ever married, and no record of him after 1640. John Gardner of Hingham appeared in that town in 1652, and the surname of his wife is not known. Dale H.
