DICKEY is not a common surname. A quick look at census information and there were only 110 people in MA in 1900. And the name doesn't show up until 1860. The surname, DURGA, is even less common. None in MA. It is mostly in Michigan and Connecticut, and about 6 other states. (First showing up in 1860.) The 1900 census has a Mrs. Jeannette DICKEY in Waltham as a widow. She has 3 children with her, age 29 to 16. The 1910 census has Orland DICKEY in Waltham, with his mother, Jennett, with him. (She is not in the Index.) His sister, Constance, and brother, Norman, are with him. I think it says that Jeannette had 4 children and 4 live. Orland is still there in 1920 with several relatives with him. (The closest I can come is a Clara DICKEY, bNY, but living in Lowell.) There are no DURGA people in MA. I checked the DERGA spelling and there was one man in MA 1900; a Portuguese name. There were 2 people in NY with the DURGA name, Otis and Louis in 1900. Oops. I just found the couple living in: DURGA, GRIFFIN (1900 U.S. Census) NEW JERSEY , UNION, 8-WD ELIZABETH Age: 30, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: MI Series: T623 Roll: 996 Page: 159 Caroline is there, and their young son, 2, and the name looks like Paris. They had been married for 9 years. I'm not finding either Griffin or Caroline DURGA in 1910 or 1920. But, I am finding this young man: DURGA, PAUL (1920 U.S. Census) MICHIGAN , WAYNE, 1-WD DETROIT Age: 22, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: NY Series: T625 Roll: 802 Page: 51 A lodger in a hotel or large rooming house. (The DERGA and DIRGA spellings seem to come from other countries.) I cannot find Griffin or Caroline in 1910 or 1920. That's all I can look up this morning.
