    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] GARDNER--Winslow to Kendrick
    2. John GARDNER of Plymouth and later Hingham was first indentured to Kenelm Winslow and John's indenture was later transferred to George Kendrick(sp). This was prior to 1650. John and Kenelm may have arrived in the Colonies together--no one knows. But John's indenture was transferred to Kendrick(sp) while he was at Plymouth (Mass.). I realize it was in an early time frame, but I feel that there should be some type of record in Plymouth Colony of the Transfer. It's my understanding that indenture contracts were recorded, but I've been wrong before. thanks, Charles

The indenture transfer to George Kenrick was recorded before Governor William Bradford on 22-Feb-1635/36 [PCR 1:37]. The transfer to John Howland was recorded at the General Court session of 05-Oct-1636 {PCR 1:44]. The index to volume 1 shows a third entry for John Gardner on page 94, but that entry is incorrect, and I have not yet found that third entry. Dale H.
