Hi again, I mentioned in my other posting this morning that my father's maternal ancestors included many 1600's patriarchs. See below. His paternal grandparents came over from England (through Nova Scotia) ~1870 to ~1880. IF a "true miracle" happened to me - genealogically speaking, my mother's maternal ancestors would include Rev. Gregory DEXTER, and an ALLEN patriarch. And, indirectly, a YOUNG patriarch. Unfortunately, her mother's birth-father will probably be forever unknown. This is an old posting of mine about ALLEN on the CT List. It offers an opinion that the 2 wives, named Mary ALLEN, of the father and son, Joseph DEXTER and Marvin DEXTER of CT, were descended from the patriarch, Samuel ALLEN, through 2 of his sons. And that Samuel came over in 1630 on the "Mary and John." http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GenConnecticut/2003-04/1049554331 A quick look on one YOUNG Message Board shows the possible patriarchs, John YOUNG and Abigail HOWLAND of 1600's Plymouth, MA. I don't see when he came over. (My "educated guess" is that Mrs. Clara Allen (DEXTER) YOUNG of Killingly, CT, was the birth-mother of my grandmother - without the benefit of her husband.) My mother's paternal ancestors included 2 families from Ireland who went to Canada in 1820's, and came down to MA from 1870's to 1880's, and a couple who left Scotland in 1850's and came to MA. (They were both "Scots/Irish" families.) Just an FYI for you. Betty (near Lowell, MA) My father's 1600's ancestors included (from memory): KIDDER, RICE, HUTCHINSON, CROSBY, WILKINS, MOORE, KNIGHT, and many other names from both Cambridge and "West Cambridge" (Arlington).
