    1. [GENMASSACHUSETTS] Ships Arriving 1630 to 1650 (KIDDER, MOORE)

    3. Hello, One of the patriarchs on my family-tree is James KIDDER (1626-1676) who reportedly arrived in 1649. The 1941 "KIDDER book" states that no one known found information on which ship he came on: FYI: James Kidder's probable birthplace, East Grinstead, is a small town about thirty miles from London, and in the near vicinity of Maresfield, ancient seat of the Kidder family. Nothing is known of his early years nor of the reasons which prompted his leaving the home of his fathers to settle in New England where he is believed to have arrived about 1649, shortly before his marriage to Anna Moore. It is assumed that he came unaccompanied by others of his family and it is a relief to be able to record that nothing so far discovered suggests his having ........ I have researched the KIDDER's for 15+ years, and George KIDDER in FL has probably researched for 20+ years. His updated version of the book might be published next year. But, as far as I know, no one has ever found out which ship James came on. And, the ships arriving in the 1640's are hardly ever discussed on the Lists. Does anyone have information on them? Are they mentioned on the CD's now being published? The other patriarch on my family-tree is Francis MOORE (Sr.), and not enough information is known about him, either. He is the father of the Anna MOORE mentioned above. * I just reviewed my old postings on the MA List and reminded myself that no one knows which ship he arrived on, either. It was either in 1638 or probably 1639, as he became a freeman in Cambridge in 1639. (He would have arrived 10 years before his son-in-law, James, did.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) * If you search the archives of the MA List for my postings in 2004, you will find information on Francis MOORE and other MOORE's arriving around the same time: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/genmassachusetts/2004-03/1079611143 It looks like I haven't brought "Francis MOORE" up for discussion for a few years.
