    3. I have some Swans, from Maine, but haven't got too far with them. I have Sarah Swan m Samuel Fowler. She was dau of Gustavus Swan and Jane Montgomery. He was son to Alexander Swan and Elizabeth Pittman, he was son to John Swan and Margaret McCrossin. John was supposedly from Londonderry, Ireland, to Peterborough, NH, though one son Jeremiah, was supposedly born in Lunenberg, Mass. Some of Alexanders children born in Newport, RI. Then the younger Gustav travelled through Peterborough, NH, to Penobscot Co, Maine. most of this info I got from other researchers On Fri, Dec 26, 2008 at 5:46 AM, ed brumby < edbrumby@71stfraserregt.freeserve.co.uk> wrote: > I post another archive document that may be of interest to anyone > researching SWAN. > > I wonder if there is a name index of the Mass Archives Revolutionary War > records Volumes 144 (may be lower too) to 186 (may be higher too)? > > > > Vols 161to 163 are supposedly Returns of polls and valuations of towns in > Mass. and Maine, usually arranged by County, including 1778/9 census of > polls (males over the age of 16), 1779, and 1781 to 1786. > > Does anyone have any knowledge of these? > > Ed in Scotland > > > > > > MA167:104 > > > > To the Honbl Council of the State of Massachusetts Bay > > The Petition of James Swan...???? in Boston > > > > Herewith > > That there is a private, named John Bowen who was taken in this harbour & > made prisoner of War with many other of the British 71st Regt.
